9-Minute 80% Fast Charge: Narada and Tailan New Energy Break Through Fast-Charging Barrier for Light-Duty Power Lithium Batteries

Recently, Narada, in collaboration with Tailan New Energy, announced a breakthrough in fast-charging and thermal management for lithium batteries used in light electric vehicles. The jointly developed ultra-fast charging battery supports 6C super-fast charging, allowing the battery to reach 80% charge in just 9 minutes.


Revolutionizing Cylindrical Cell Technology: The Cold-Core Battery


This ultra-fast charging battery is built on Tailan New Energy’s next-generation large cylindrical cell platform—Cold-Core Battery technology. Through coordinated innovations in structure, materials, and manufacturing processes, the Cold-Core Battery achieves a substantial leap in fast-charging capability.

Structurally, the Cold-Core Battery adopts a unique axial and bottom dual-zone thermal conduction design, significantly improving the thermal management performance of large cylindrical cells. In terms of materials, the battery enhances electron and ion transport speeds within the cathode and anode, increasing charge and discharge rates. From a manufacturing perspective, the adoption of modular design improves production line compatibility, paving the way for large-scale commercial applications.


Thanks to this three-pronged innovation approach, the Cold-Core Battery resolves the traditional conflict between fast-charging performance and heat dissipation efficiency. Coupled with its wide operating temperature range of -30°C to 55°C, and protected by more than 30 core patents, this technology propels Chinese enterprises from being technology followers to becoming rule makers in the global cylindrical battery market.


A Dual Moat of Performance and Safety


Thermal management is the key to unlocking high-rate charging. However, the structural characteristics of cylindrical cells inherently limit contact area between the battery and cooling plates. To maximize energy density, cells are densely packed, which further complicates heat dissipation. To address these challenges, Narada has made significant breakthroughs in both the structural design and engineering of the battery pack.


In terms of thermal contact, Narada tailored the structural design to the Cold-Core cell casing, using high thermal conductivity interface materials to fill microscopic gaps, ensuring zero-gap, tight coupling between the cell and cooling plates. This design enables the rapid extraction of heat generated during high-rate charging. 


Meanwhile, the battery pack layout has been optimized using CFD, and combined with a heat-spreading plate design, it establishes a highly efficient 3D thermal conduction network inside the battery pack. This ensures a temperature variation within 3°C, avoiding the formation of hot spots, significantly improving safety margins under fast-charging and extreme operating conditions, while also extending the battery’s cycle life.


In addition, Narada designed continuous thermal conduction air channels and directional vent structures to ensure rapid and targeted discharge of gases in the rare event of thermal runaway. 

Beyond hardware, Narada has also developed a proprietary BMS tailored for light electric vehicles. The system has undergone comprehensive upgrades in hardware functionality, performance reliability, software platformization, and intelligent applications. These improvements significantly enhance the battery’s ability to detect issues, perform intelligent diagnostics, and enable remote troubleshooting, ensuring safety and efficiency throughout charging and discharging operations.


This strong collaboration between Narada and Tailan New Energy not only redefines the performance boundaries of light-duty lithium batteries with Cold-Core technology, but also establishes a new industry benchmark in safe fast charging through full-chain innovation in thermal management.
